I2SysBio to host international conference on the latest breakthroughs in Integrative Systems Biology from 9 to 11 September
The Institute of Integrative Systems Biology (I2SysBio), a joint centre of the Spanish National Research Council (CSIC) and the University of Valencia, will host the international conference ‘Integrative Synthetic & Systems Biology for a Resilient Future’ from 9 to 11 September 2026. This major scientific event forms part of the activities organised by the institute to mark its tenth anniversary.
The conference will offer a multidisciplinary programme addressing some of today’s major scientific challenges, ranging from the study of the evolution and complexity of biological systems to the development of new biomedical, environmental and biotechnological applications.
The programme includes plenary lectures, panel discussions and thematic sessions focusing on key areas such as pathogen systems biology, computational biology, systems biotechnology and synthetic biology. These fields reflect the main scientific priorities of I2SysBio, which works to understand the structure, function and dynamics of complex biological systems from an integrative perspective.
This international event will take place across three venues in Valencia — the University of Valencia Science Park, the Botanic Garden and I2SysBio itself — forming an itinerary that strengthens the link between research, academia and society.
Over the course of the three days, there will be a series of lectures by internationally renowned researchers. The programme also includes four panel discussions, which will address the conference’s key themes and provide a representative overview of the research programmes at I2SysBio: systems biotechnology, pathogen systems biology, and theoretical and computational systems biology.
In addition to the scientific sessions, the event includes opportunities to foster collaboration between researchers and companies. In this regard, the conference aims not only to disseminate knowledge but also to promote technology transfer. To this end, a meeting is also scheduled with José Manuel González Vicente, the Spanish delegate to the Horizon Europe Cluster 6 Committee (Food, Bioeconomy, Natural Resources, Agriculture and Environment) at the Centre for Technological Development and Innovation.
The conference is organised with the support of The Company of Biologists, Laboratorios Tecnológicos de Levante, the Spanish Society of Biophysics, the Bioval Cluster through the Valencia Biofoundry initiative, and the HUB-CSIC Antimicrobials Network. The conference logo was designed by the illustrator Adrià Voltà.
This international scientific event forms part of the programme of activities organised by I2SysBio to mark its tenth anniversary and reaffirm its commitment to scientific research in the field of integrative systems biology.
