Manises is set to make its debut at this year’s Pint of Science festival, in collaboration with the I2SysBio
The I2SysBio (CSIC-UV) is collaborating in the latest edition of the Pint of Science festival, which will be held for the first time in Manises on 18, 19 and 20 May, featuring ten public science talks taking place at the Sant Joan Bistró at 7 pm.
The town of Manises is thus joining the eleventh edition of this free science festival in bars, which will be held simultaneously across 114 towns and cities nationwide.
At this event, researchers from all disciplines bring their work to the public in an unusual setting for science: bars, transforming these everyday spaces into meeting points where knowledge and curiosity come together.
“Cannabis: Discover the Potential of a Taboo Plant”, “Playing Tetris and Lego with Our Cells” and “Microbial Dark Matter” are the titles of some of the talks taking place at Sant Joan Bistró, some of which will feature live experiments. In addition, the restaurant will be offering a selection of tapas to accompany the event.
Among the participants in this edition of Pint of Science Manises are I2SysBio researchers including Mireia Uranga, Javier Buceta and Maria Dzunkova. The full programme can be viewed on the website: https://pintofscience.es/events/manises/
One of the organisation’s objectives in Manises is to establish a direct dialogue between researchers and society. Cecilia Picazo, coordinator of the first edition of Pint of Science Manises, explains that “we often think that science is difficult, but perhaps what is lacking is how it has been explained to us. Pint of Science breaks down that barrier: we use simple, accessible language, and we turn bars into unique spaces where people can ask questions, get involved and discover that even the most complex ideas can be understood without difficulty”.
