Beatriz Sabater, researcher at I2SysBio, receives the 9th October Award for Scientific Merit from Almussafes Town Council
The Almussafes City Council has recognised the scientific career of Beatriz Sabater Moreno, researcher at the Institute of Integrative Systems Biology (I2SysBio, a joint centre of the CSIC and the University of Valencia), with the 9th October Award for Scientific Merit. The mayor of the municipality, Toni González, and the Councillor for Culture, Manuela Ruiz, presented the awards at an official ceremony held at the Llar dels Jubilats in Almussafes.
Beatriz Sabater, a resident of Almussafes and senior scientist at the CSIC, has more than 70 scientific publications in the field of biochemistry and molecular biology to her name, establishing herself as a leading figure in biomedical research. Her work has contributed significantly to the advancement of knowledge in key areas for health and biotechnology, and her commitment to scientific dissemination and the training of new generations of researchers is equally remarkable.
I2SysBio, the centre where Sabater leads—together with Christina Toft—the Panomics and Evolutionary Systems Microbiology group, celebrates this recognition as a reflection of the impact of science at an academic and social level. The award highlights not only research excellence, but also the link between the scientific community and the local environment.
In addition to Beatriz Sabater, the Almussafes Town Council awarded distinctions to other individuals and entities that contribute to the well-being and development of the municipality: the Association of Housewives and Consumers - Tyrius for its work in favour of equality, the company Frutos Secos Escribá for its business track record, the writer Mari Carmen Sáez Lorente for her cultural contribution, the group of Social Volunteers for the Elderly for their social commitment, and the Local Cancer Board as Ambassador of Almussafes.
