The pre-registration period for the Master Degree in Integrative Synthetic Biology is open until 29 May
The Master in Integrative Synthetic Biology (MISB), organised jointly by the UIMP and the CSIC, provides postgraduate students (from life sciences and physical chemistry to technology and engineering) with an integrated programme of training, research and innovation in synthetic biology in a cutting-edge scientific environment.
The mission of MISB, the first postgraduate school in synthetic biology in Spain, is to prepare the next generation of specialists in synthetic biology, who use new ways of exploring living systems to understand and intervene in biological complexity. The MISB is a collective higher education initiative involving the main CSIC centres working in integrative synthetic biology: the CIB Margarita Salas (coordinator of the master's degree), the National Biotechnology Centre (CNB) and the Institute for Integrative Systems Biology of Valencia (I2SysBio, a joint centre of the University of Valencia and the CSIC). In addition, it has the active participation of research groups from other CSIC institutes, such as the Blas Cabrera Institute of Physical Chemistry (IQF), the Institute of Biomedicine and Biotechnology of Cantabria (IBBTEC) and the Institute of Catalysis and Petrochemistry (ICP), as well as several international academic and research centres.
The MISB proposes a new training concept that exposes students to the scientific activities carried out in these CSIC centres, which bring together a wide range of knowledge and experience from the main research groups working in various disciplines of synthetic biology and related areas.
The MISB's advanced research and training programme is spread over two years (120 ECTS) and pre-registration for the 2025-2027 edition will be open until 29 May 2025.
Important dates:
- Pre-registration: until 29 May 2025 (until 23:59 Madrid time).
- Admission decision: until 16 June 2025.
- Complaints: within two working days of the publication of the provisional admission decision.
- Final admission decision: the day after the end of the complaint period.
The admission of candidates will be decided by the Master's Academic Committee in accordance with the access conditions and specific admission requirements of the programme, with the aim of not exceeding the maximum number of 20 places on offer.
