Valencia celebrates Darwin Day with a robotics science bar and a conference on the evolution of cords

L’Espai Ciència has organized two events in València amb motiu Darwin Day, which is celebrated every February 12. Així, on Sunday 12th there will be the science bar 'Artificial intelligence and robotics', to the cafeteria of the October Center de Cultura Contemporània (7 pm), on the occasion of the publication of the monograph of the magazine Mètode 'Interconnectats. Màquines i humans davant del segle 10101’. Dimecres 13, at the Darwin Room of the Burjassot-Paterna Campus of the University (13 hours), Héctor Escrivá, from the Oceanogràfic Observatory of Banyuls sur Mer, will give the conference 'A genomic perspective of the evolution of cordats'.
Darwin's Day is a celebration created with the intention of commemorating The anniversary of Darwin's birth, February 12, 1809. Highlights include the paper and the contribution of British biology to science. However, it later became a day aimed at promoting scientific practice in general. In the case of the Universitat de València, it is traditionally celebrated from fa anys.
In the science bar, moderated by the journalist Reis Juan, Carme Torras, from the Institute of Robotics and Industrial Informatics of the CSIC and the Polytechnic University of Catalonia, will participate; així with Ramon López de Mantaras, member of the Institute of Research in Artificial Intelligence (CSIC) of Bellaterra.
The act is organized by the Faculty of Biological Sciences, the Museum of Natural History, the Cavanilles Institute of Biodiversity and Evolutionary Biology, the Institute of Integrative Biology of Systems (I2SysBio) and the Chair for the Dissemination of Science-Unitat de Cultura Cientifica i de la Innovació, all of these entities belonging to the University of Valencia. It is also organized by the Institute of Catalan Studies, the Catalan Society of Biology, the Cultural Action of the Valencian Country, the October Center for Contemporary Culture, the Spanish Foundation for Science and Technology (FECyT), the Ministry of Science, Innovation and Universities and the Consell Superior d'Investigacions Científiques.
