Participants of Estalmat, the program to stimulate Mathematical Talent, visited this Saturday (21) the Institute of Integrative Systems Biology (I2SysBio) mixed between the University of Valencia and the CSIC. The Estalmat project has an agreement with the CSIC delegation in Valencia so that every year a center of research excellence in the Valencian Community is visited.

The visit began at 10 in the morning at the institute's headquarters in the Scientific Park where the fifty students of the project accompanied by its director Rafael Crespo and monitors were received by the deputy director Juli Peretó and the researchers Emilia Matallana, Ximo Moreno and Carlos Peña.

The visit had two parts, a more general one in which the operation of the recently created Institute was explained, with special mention to the applications of mathematics and computing to biological sciences such as predator-prey models, algorithms and data scaling and processing. Secondly, a visit was made to the laboratories and treatment and data storage center where the boys and girls saw first-hand and in the laboratories the various projects in which the center's researchers are embarked.
