In fact, any investment in a healthcare portfolio typically generates a higher return than any other sector (for example, the S&P 500 for healthcare has returned 162% since 2010, versus the average of 97%). This presentation will focus on a series of personal experiences of creating and developing organizations that have in common being based on scientific and biotechnological aspects. Starting from a company like Diversa, totally based on a scientific platform for prospecting natural diversity, and how we use such strategic collaborations with pharmaceutical companies to finance our growth until public offering; passing through the next company, Prometheus, with a very different model that focused on personalized medicine, unlike any other diagnostic and pharmaceutical company, allowing the rapid commercialization of products, the generation of cash flow and consequently, the self-financing of the company almost from the beginning; completing the presentation with the application in a new territory with great development potential, the area of veterinary medicine based on biotechnology and the accumulated knowledge in human medicine. Each of these examples represents diverse but very representative strategies that can be followed to build companies based on biotechnology.About Juan J. Estruch. CEO and Director, Vetica Labs Inc.
