For fifteen years, the Faculty of Biological Sciences of the University of Valencia has developed an agreement with the Iowa State University (ISU) that allows ISU biology students to be hosted in its laboratories for a month.

This year, six students have collaborated with various research groups, among which is Elianies Segarra who has joined the Systems Engineering group Metabolic Research at I2SysBio and has been supervised by Alba Arévalo. The students, accompanied by the program director at ISU Moe Gupta, were received on June 5 by dean Ismael Mingarro and vice dean Carmen Agustín-Pavón, along with the tutors of the receiving laboratories. For a month, they have become familiar with laboratory techniques and procedures while continuing their educational and cultural activities at the University of Valencia. Another group of students have participated in parallel in the program of activities, talks and excursions, "Valencia as a Biology Lab", led by staff from the Faculty and the Cavanilles Institute. The students presented their experimental results in a session on Monday, July 8, before starting the return trip. In this session, Professor Gupta expressed his gratitude and satisfaction for the development of the stay and Dean Mingarro and Vice-Dean Agustín-Pavón expressed their wishes for the continuity of this enriching collaboration with the ISU.
