A group of three finalist students of the Biology Olympics learn about I2SysBio within the collaboration program with the CSIC. For five days they visited the facilities and had access to the research being carried out.

In recent years the CSIC has collaborated with the organization of the Biology Olympics. After the regional phases of the competition, the brightest students who go to the final are offered the possibility of carrying out a short stay in a research center. In the 2024 edition, three students visited the Institute of Integrative Systems Biology I2SysBio (joint UV-CSIC center) during the first week of July. After being received by the Management and having a general introduction to the center, the students were assisted by technical staff from the institute who commented on aspects related to biosafety. Throughout the week they had the opportunity to participate in the activities of various research groups on very diverse topics, such as virology, molecular biology, biotechnology or bioinformatics. They also had the opportunity to visit two companies in the Science Park, ADM-Biopolis and Darwin Bioprospecting Excellence.

The visiting students were Ainhoa Garrigós Hernández (IES Poeta Paco Mollá, Petrer Alacant), Marta Victoria Merino Bolet (IES Los Boliches, Fuengirola, Málaga) and Eric Iglesias Sanllehí (IES Francés de Aranda, Teruel). The favorable opinion of participants in previous years and our commitment to society, especially to young people, encourage us to continue with this type of actions.
