Carlos Briones presents his latest book in Valencia

The Casa de la Ciència of the CSIC in València hosts the presentation of «On board your curiosity: a journey through questions and challenges of current science", the latest book by CSIC researcher, popularizer and poet Carlos Briones. The event will be held on Wednesday, May 15 at 7 p.m. and is organized by I2SysBio on the occasion of the visit of the students of the Master of Integrative Synthetic Biology (MISB, CSIC-UIMP).
The book «On board your curiosity: a journey through the questions and challenges of current science» (Crítica, 2024) breaks down, through 52 questions, essential aspects of science contemporary. In this work, Carlos Briones not only provides us with rigorous and basic information to understand the universe, life and humans and satisfy the curiosity of all ages. He also vindicates critical thinking as an antidote to pseudoscience with passion and humor. Beautiful and suggestively illustrated by Kim Amate, Briones' book is an invitation to recognize science as an integral part of culture.
Carlos Briones is a CSIC researcher at the Astrobiology Center (CSIC-INTA joint center) where he directs a group dedicated to the study of the origin and early evolution of life, RNA viruses and the design of biosensors to detect life forms on Earth and beyond. Excellent communicator, he has extensive informative work, highlighting his previous book «Are we alone? In search of other lives in the Cosmos» (Criticism 2020). In 2019 he received the Tesla award for his career in science dissemination. In the field of literature, he is the author of several books of poetry and in 1993 he was awarded the Hiperión Prize for the collection of poems “From where you are absent.”
Carlos Briones will talk about his latest book with Juli Peretó, professor at the Department of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology of the University of Valencia and researcher at the Institute of Integrative Systems Biology I2SysBio (joint CSIC-UV centre).
The event will take place in the Assembly Hall of the Casa de la Ciència (C. Batlia, 1. Plaça de la Verge, València), on Wednesday, May 15 at 7 p.m. Admission is free until capacity is reached.
