The University of Valencia hosts the tenth Bioinformatics and Genomics Conference, between December 15 and 16, in the Charles Darwin Room of the Burjassot Campus. The symposium, organized by the Universitat de València (UV), the Catalan Society of Biology (SCB) and the Bioinformatics Barcelona association (BIB), is coordinated by Ferrán Palero (Cavanilles Institute of Biodiversity and Evolutionary Biology, ICBiBE) and Ana Conesa (Institute of Integrative Systems Biology, I2SysBio).

The meeting, with open registration here, aims to promote the development of bioinformatics, genomics and their respective applications. It will bring together more than 150 scientists from various countries, who will participate in oral presentations with their posters. All presentations will be made in English.

The main objective of the X Conference on Bioinformatics and Genomics is to promote scientific interaction between the different groups of international specialists, as well as to present the research and advances carried out in this field. Specifically, the symposium will focus on the understanding of the genome in humans and other organisms, on new technological developments, applications and on the impact of genomic data on evolutionary biology, among other areas.

Three internationally recognized specialists will give the keynote lectures: Max Blaxter (director of the New Tree of Life Program at the Sanger Institute), Yolanda Sanz (Institute of Agrochemistry and Food Technology) and Julio Sáez-Rodríguez (Institute of Computational Biomedicine, University of Heidelberg, Germany).

On the part of the University, the organizers are the Cavanilles Institute of Biodiversity and Evolutionary Biology, an entity of the UV, and the Institute of Integrative Systems Biology, joint center of the University and the Higher Council for Scientific Research.
