A group of four finalist students of the Biology Olympics visit the I2SysBio within the collaboration program with the CSIC. For five days they visited the facilities and learned first-hand about the research being carried out.

In recent years the CSIC has collaborated with the organization of the Biology Olympics. After the regional phases of the competition, the brightest students who go to the final are offered the possibility of carrying out a short stay in a research center. In the 2022 edition, four students visited the Institute of Integrative Systems Biology I2SysBio (joint UV-CSIC center) during the last week of June. After being received by the Management and having a general introduction to the center, the four students were assisted by the institute's technical staff who commented on aspects related to biosafety. Throughout the week they had the opportunity to participate in the activities of various research groups on very diverse topics, such as virology, molecular biology, biotechnology or bioinformatics. They also had the opportunity to visit two companies in the Science Park, ADM-Biopolis and Seqplexing.

The four visiting students were Álvaro Sáenz-Torre De Torre (IES Hermanos D´Elhuyar, Logroño), Carlos González González (IES Núñez de Arce, Valladolid), Paulo Joaquín García Eléxpuru (IES Carlos Casares, Viana do Bolo, Orense) and Lucía Martínez Galván (IES Ildefonso Serrano, Segura de León, Badajoz). The very favorable opinion of participants in previous years and our commitment to society, and especially to young people, encourage us to continue with this type of actions.
