Presentation of the book “Something new in the heavens”, by Antonio Martínez Ron

«Something new in the heavens»

The CSIC Science House in Valencia hosts the presentation of «Something new in the heavens", the latest book by scientific journalist and writer Antonio Martínez Ron. The event will be held on Wednesday, May 18 at 7 p.m. and is organized by I2SysBio on the occasion of the visit of the students of the Master of Integrative Synthetic Biology (MISB, CSIC-UIMP).

The book «Something new in the heavens. "The great journey of humanity through the oceans of the air" (Editorial Crítica, 2022) is a journey through the history of knowledge of the sky, a narrative about how the secrets of the atmosphere were deciphered while humanity ascended higher and higher and gained perspective on its place in the universe. The text answers questions such as why it rains, what the air we breathe is made of, or where space begins from the perspective of those who conquered, step by step, the celestial vault. Antonio Martínez Ron, science journalist and writer, has carried out a great documentation task and conveys to us through these pages his passion for, in his own words, "that vertical journey, which began in the mountains and continued in a balloon, in airplanes and rockets, one of the most fascinating adventures that human beings have ever undertaken." Martínez Ron has been awarded the Ondas and the Concha García Campoy awards, was one of the founders of the Naukas platform and has collaborated with the Órbita Laika (TVE) program. He is the author of the books “The Naked Eye,” “What Do Astronauts See When They Close Their Eyes?” and "Dad, where does the sun plug in?".

Antonio Martínez Ron will share a table with Anna Mateu, editor of the Universitat de València magazine Mètode. The event will be presented by Juli Peretó, researcher at the Institute of Integrative Systems Biology (I2SysBio, CSIC-UV) and professor at the UV.

The presentation will take place in the Assembly Hall of the Casa de la Ciència (C. Batlia, 1. Plaça de la Verge, València), on Wednesday, May 18 at 7 p.m. Admission is free until capacity is reached.
