Leaders and specialists analyze the success stories of consortia and strategic alliances in research and innovation at the Science Park

Universat de València Scientific Park

The day is integrated into the Globaltech project, promoted by the Parc Foundation Scientist from the University of Valencia and the Department of Innovation, Universities, Science and Digital Society to promote businesses and projects in the Valencian innovative ecosystem.

Collaborative relationships are key in the development of R&D&i projects, through the promotion of public-private cooperation in research and innovation. Consortia and strategic alliances, essential instruments to make collaboration between university and business possible, will focus the day that the Science Park of the University of Valencia (PCUV) will celebrate on November 4, dedicated to analyzing from a practical point of view these two growing figures in promoting the transfer of knowledge to the productive fabric.

Under the title “Consortia and strategic alliances in the field of research and innovation: Presentation of cases and good practices", the meeting, with a face-to-face and online format that will bring together around fifteen representatives and leaders of prominent R&D&I consortia and specialists in the field of promotion and development of the innovative ecosystem, will be an opportunity to analyze success stories and share experiences and good practices in the generation, implementation and management of these university-business collaboration strategies in academic and innovative environments.

As a complement to the conference. “The internationalization of research and innovation through consortia and strategic alliances”, held in 2020 to offer an overview of the generation of these collaborative and mutual relations, this year's event “aims to bring researchers and companies closer to the direct experiences of the managers of research and innovation consortia, and learn from the lessons learned within the framework of these processes, in addition to sharing the good practices developed in the management of this type of consortia and reflect on their application in practice,” explains Guillermo Palao, professor of Private International Law at the University of Valencia and member of GI+dPI (R&D Group on Intellectual and Industrial Property of the UVEG), who coordinates the day together with Jesús Olavarría, professor of Commercial Law and founder and member of GI+dPI; Eva Alcaraz, head of the FPCUV Legal Area; and Lola Blanco, head of the Contracted R&D&i Section of the UV.

With the aim of promoting a real approach to collaborative figures such as consortia so that researchers and companies understand their scope and associated problems, “the event tries to highlight outstanding successful experiences within the framework of university-business collaboration in relation to the use of research and innovation consortia, and encourage the use of this type of collaborative figures, due to the benefits that arise," highlights Professor Olavarría, co-organizer of the meeting.

The conference will feature, among others, the participation of Francisco Gabriel Acien, professor of Engineering at the University of Almería; Diego Alonso Cáceres, professor at the Polytechnic University of Cartagena, in the area of Information and Communications Technology; Iryna Biliaieva, Open Innovation Manager at ADM Biópolis S.A.; Itziar Carredo, head of International Projects at the Plastics Technology Institute (AIMPLAST); Javier Medina, partner and director of Qi Europe; Tatiana Montoya, head of R&D&i of the Wastewater Department, Global Omnium, Aguas de Valencia S.A.; Manuel Porcar, researcher at the Institute of Integrative Systems Biology (UV-CSIC); Raquel Rodríguez, director of the OTRI of the University of Zaragoza; and Ángeles Sanchis, head of the International R&D+i Section of the UV.

The conference, aimed at university teaching staff and research groups, innovative technology-based or scientific companies, and technical staff of science and technology parks, transfer and innovation services of universities and other research organizations, and innovation agents and knowledge transfer technical staff, is part of the Globaltech Project, promoted by the FPCUV and the Department of Innovation, Universities, Science and Digital Society, in order to promote a global approach to business and projects and the success of consortia and alliances in the innovation environment.
