Eighteen scientists from the University of Valencia, among the most influential for their research quality

Eighteen researchers from the University of València stand out for the quality of their research, according to the H-Index, an indicator of professional quality of the research staff based on the number of citations received for the published scientific articles. In the province of Valencia, where researchers from up to five institutions are counted, scientists from the University make up 52.94% of the total, and in the Valencian Community as a whole they represent 38.29%.
The H Index detects the experts who receive the most citations in the areas of Biology, Health Sciences, Earth Sciences, Physics, Mathematics, Chemistry, Technology, Engineering and Applied Sciences. This classification is based on the average H Factor (FH), or relationship between the H Index of each researcher, and the average value of the H of the other authors who are in the ranking of their area. In its latest update, it shows the list of the 428 most important researchers in Spain, out of 786 analyzed, in the period between March 2019 and January 25, 2020.
The researchers from the University of Valencia cited are Dolors Corella (Nutrition and Dietetics), Yolanda Picó (Analytical Chemistry), Guillermina Font (Toxicology), Alicia Salvador (Health Sciences), Behavior), María Dolores Bargues (Parasitology), Rosa María Baños (Clinical Psychology), María José Alcaraz (Pharmacology and Pharmacy). Also Isabel Balaguer (Applied Psychology), Amparo Latorre (Genetics and Heredity), Manuela Merchán (Physical Chemistry), María Teresa Donato (Pharmacology and Pharmacy), María J. Bayarri (Statistics and Probability) and Marisol Lila (Psychology). The list is completed by researchers Ana Belén Gaspar (Inorganic and Nuclear Chemistry), Rosa María Giner (Pharmacology and Pharmacy), Ana Lluch (Oncology), Maria Adela Valero (Parasitology) and Marina Berenguer (Gastroenterology and Hepatology).
At the level of the Valencian Community, the H Index shows scientists from five universities and three higher public research centers: the Universities of València, the Politècnica de València, the Higher Council for Scientific Research, the Valencian Institute of Agrarian Research (IVIA) and the Príncipe Felipe de València Research Center (province of València); the Universities of Alicante and Elche (province of Alicante) and the Universitat Jaume I (Castelló).
The H Index in Spain is published by the H Index Diffusion Group (DIH). The provinces with the most researchers in this classification are Madrid (109 researchers), Barcelona (87), València (33), Granada (20) and Murcia and Seville (14 each).
