Daniel Ramón's entrance speech to the academy is titled 'Reflections on bacteria, food and health'.

Daniel Ramón is currently vice president of R&D in Nutrition and Health at ADM Biopolis, a company that was born as a spin-off of the CSIC and is today part of the agri-food giant ADM. He has been a research professor at the Higher Council for Scientific Research, at the Institute of Agrochemistry and Food Technology (IATA), and professor of Food Technology at the University of Valencia.

From Biopolis, Daniel Ramón has developed successful probiotics, in addition to various biological products that have been licensed or co-developed with other companies.
The firm ADM Biopolis maintains a scientific collaboration agreement with the Institute of Integrative Systems Biology. (I2SysBio), a joint center of the University of Valencia and the CSIC, for the development of strategic research projects of common interest in the field of synthetic and systems biology.

Within our institute it participates in the Metabolic Systems Engineering Research Group.
