The Science Park celebrates 10 years of coexistence between science and business

The Science Park of the University of Valencia (PCUV) celebrated on Wednesday the 16th October the 10th anniversary of its official inauguration. And it has done so with an event focused mainly on the conference by the Data Science expert Nuria Oliver, as well as on the public recognition of the University to the research centers and companies that are part of this innovation ecosystem located in the vicinity of the Burjassot-Paterna Campus. Valencian; a change of model that was necessary ten years ago and that is now essential in the era of the knowledge society and transformations of our environment.” With these words, the rector of the University of Valencia, Maria Vicenta Mestre, addressed the scientific and business community present this morning at the Science Park on the occasion of the celebration of its the conference 'Innovation, my personal vision', by the Telecommunications engineer and Director of Data Science Research at Vodafone, Nuria Oliver. The Alicante expert has highlighted the role that Artificial Intelligence is playing and will play in this century. 'Due to its characteristics,' he said, 'Artificial Intelligence is to the fourth industrial revolution what electricity was to the second.' And he has made, among many other issues, a projection of how human behavior is capable of being modeled from the interaction of people with machines. All in a conference that will be accessible shortly on the Science Park's YouTube channel.
Councilor Carolina Pascual has defined science parks as "border territories, where academics and researchers analyze the business situation from their perspective and contribute new ideas, new methods to achieve solutions. This frontier, multidisciplinary and innovative strategy – he said – achieves the much-sought interaction between the university and the business world with successes that your Science Park can accredit.”
During the event, which was led by the journalist Reis Juan, the University has recognized the research centers and veteran companies located in the Science Park; the first –research institutes and unique centers–, for their capabilities and driving role in the transfer of knowledge; the second – scientific and technological-based companies that have grown within the PCUV –, for being an example of the generation of innovation and progress in their immediate environment based on R&D&i, and demonstrating, together with research centers, the fact that public-private collaboration is essential to advance towards the knowledge society.
